ATTOCK:

Superintendent of Attock district jail Imran Barth was arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe the Inspector General of Punjab Prisons and was handed over to the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).

According to officials of the Punjab Prisons Department, the action was taken under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's policy of eliminating corruption from government departments.

The officials said jailer Barth met IG Prisons Mian Salik Jalal at his residence, where security, safety and other administrative matters relating to District Jail Attock were discussed.

After the meeting, the superintendent left the residence but returned about two minutes later. During the second meeting, he allegedly placed an envelope containing cash on the table.
