Grocery shops exempted from licences

RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab government has exempted grocery shops from business licensing by district market committees under the new SOPs, rules and regulations for district market committees across the province.

District market committees will no longer be able to issue business licences to grocery shops within their areas of jurisdiction.

They will now only be authorised to issue business licences to shops in wholesale markets.

Divisional President of the Grocery Merchants Association Saleem Parvez Butt said the association had held successful negotiations with the bureaucracy and the government in Lahore.
