​'Lioness' season 3 ends with a major twist, but Paramount+ has yet to renew the Taylor Sheridan series for season 4

Lioness season 3 has ended on Paramount+, leaving viewers with a major cliffhanger and questions about the future of the Taylor Sheridan thriller.

The season 3 finale, which aired on September 20, revealed that Aaliyah Amrohi, played by Stephanie Nur, was behind the attempts to kidnap Joe McNamara, portrayed by Zoe Saldaña. Aaliyah is the daughter of Saudi businessman and terrorist financier Asmar Ali Amrohi, who was targeted by Joe’s team during the first season.

The revelation suggests that Aaliyah is seeking revenge for the losses suffered by her family and could become the central antagonist if Lioness returns for another season.

Paramount+ has not officially renewed Lioness for season 4. The series previously took almost a year to receive its season 3 renewal after the second season concluded in December 2024.

The season 3 finale, however, leaves several storylines open. Joe learns that an Iran-backed Iraqi militia known as Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada was hired to abduct her, while viewers learn that Aaliyah is ultimately behind the operation.

If renewed, a fourth season could follow Joe and her team as they investigate the people involved in the kidnapping attempts and uncover Aaliyah’s role.

The cast has also expressed interest in returning. Jill Wagner, who plays Bobby, said in August that she expected the series to receive another season. Laysla De Oliveira, meanwhile, discussed potential storylines for Cruz, including exploring her personal life and taking on responsibilities similar to Joe’s.

All three existing seasons of Lioness are currently available to stream on Paramount+.
