LHC extends stay for Afghan medics

The LHC had continued the suspension of a PM&DC directive requiring Afghan medical students to return to Afghanistan, after lawyers representing the council and a university sought additional time to file their respective replies.

In earlier proceedings, the LHC's Justice Khalid Ishaq had sought replies from the concerned respondents, including the PMDC, the health ministry and the vice chancellors of the medical varsities and colleges.

But the lawyers representing PM&DC and the University of Health Sciences, appearing before the court sought more time to submit their written replies.
