Paloma Faith questions Ed Sheeran’s political neutrality amid Macklemore tour row

Paloma Faith has questioned Ed Sheeran’s claim of political neutrality amid the ongoing controversy over Macklemore’s removal from his US Loop Tour.

Speaking to Channel 4, Faith raised questions about Sheeran’s position after Macklemore said he had been removed from the tour following his pro-Palestine comments. Faith noted that she had previously performed alongside Sheeran at a concert raising money for Ukraine.

Macklemore addressed his removal in an Instagram post, claiming that Sheeran and his team had “made the decision to remove” him from the tour. Sheeran subsequently responded, saying the decision was made by the tour promoter rather than him.

The dispute followed Macklemore’s performances at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, where he spoke in support of Palestinians and said he wanted people in Gaza and the West Bank to know they had not been forgotten.

Faith’s comments add to the growing public debate over Sheeran’s stated political neutrality and whether remaining publicly neutral is itself a political position during an international crisis.

The controversy has also affected the rest of the tour, with all of the current support acts dropping out of the remaining dates following Macklemore’s removal.
