'Widow’s Bay' wins Outstanding Comedy Series at 2026 Emmys

Widow’s Bay has won Outstanding Comedy Series at the 2026 Emmy Awards, adding the top comedy prize to a successful night for the Apple TV series.

The award was presented by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey during the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 14. Series creator Katie Dippold accepted the award alongside members of the cast and crew.

In her acceptance speech, Dippold thanked “the evil entity on the island that trusted us with its story.”

Widow’s Bay competed against Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking and Hacks for Outstanding Comedy Series.

The series also received nominations for Matthew Rhys in Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Dale Dickey and Kate O’Flynn in Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. All three actors won their respective categories.

Widow’s Bay follows residents of an island town affected by supernatural events. Rhys stars in the series alongside Jeff Hiller and O’Flynn.

Apple TV renewed Widow’s Bay for a second season in June, shortly before the first season concluded.

“From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laugh, and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro, Matthew and the entire team have created,” Apple TV head of programming Matt Cherniss said.

“It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season.”
