The pair were cast as the leads in A24’s upcoming romantic drama, based on Holly Brickley’s novel of the same name. Spaeny plays Percy, while Starkey portrays Joe, two music-obsessed young people whose relationship develops in the 2000s. 

According to recent reports, speculation surrounding Spaeny and Starkey’s relationship grew after they were reportedly seen spending time together following production on Deep Cuts. However, neither actor has publicly confirmed that they are in a romantic relationship, meaning the dating reports remain unconfirmed. 

The latest speculation comes amid increased attention surrounding Starkey’s personal life. The Outer Banks star was previously linked to actress Odessa A’zion, with the two first sparking romance rumours after appearing together in the 2022 Hellraiser reboot. They played love interests in the film.

Spaeny, meanwhile, has continued to build her profile with roles in films including Priscilla, Civil War, Alien: Romulus and Wake Up Dead Man. Starkey has also earned recognition for his work in Outer Banks and Queer.
