Gaga has spoken openly about wanting motherhood and once called it her ‘next starring role’

Lady Gaga has reportedly welcomed her first child with fiancé Michael Polansky, marking a major new chapter for the Grammy and Oscar winning star.

The couple recently became parents, according to reports first published by Page Six and subsequently confirmed by a source to PEOPLE. Photos have also emerged showing Gaga and Polansky with an infant during an outing in Northern California. However, the couple has not publicly announced the baby’s name, sex or exact date of birth.

The arrival comes after years of Gaga speaking publicly about her hopes of becoming a mother. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2025, the singer described motherhood as her "next starring role", making clear that starting a family was one of her biggest personal ambitions.

Gaga has also discussed the complicated feelings surrounding motherhood and her demanding career. In a 2025 interview with The New York Times, she spoke about wanting children to have the freedom to discover themselves rather than being pushed towards a life chosen for them. She also reflected on how becoming a parent would change the intensely personal nature of her life as a performer.

Her relationship with Polansky has remained relatively private since they began dating. The pair were first publicly linked around 2020 and their relationship became especially close during the COVID 19 pandemic. Their engagement was confirmed publicly during the 2024 Paris Olympics, when Gaga introduced Polansky as her fiancé while meeting then French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

The engagement itself reportedly took place on April 1, 2024, although Gaga and Polansky did not immediately make the news public. In March 2026, Gaga also indicated that the pair intended to marry soon, although they did not announce a wedding date.

Polansky has largely stayed outside the centre of Gaga’s entertainment career, although he has supported her professionally and personally. He is a technology entrepreneur and has been involved with the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy. Gaga has also continued her work through the Born This Way Foundation, while balancing music, acting and major live performances.

The birth arrives during a particularly significant period in Gaga’s career. Her sixth studio album, Mayhem, earned multiple Grammy nominations and won Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards. She also recently completed her MAYHEM BALL world tour, which concluded in April 2026.
