Red Line set to bridge Karachi airport gap

Travelling to and from Jinnah International Airport could soon get easier as the Red Line bus service is planned to pass near the airport, offering passengers a more convenient public transport link, a senior Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) official said.

Deputy Director General Works and Development Samir Saeed made the disclosure while chairing the PAA's e-Kachehri, where passengers and members of the public raised complaints and offered suggestions concerning airport facilities and services. According to the PAA spokesperson, the authority has already provided land and issued a no-objection certificate for the Red Line bus service. The route will pass close to the airport, facilitating passengers travelling to and from the terminal.

Saeed also said a major renovation of Karachi airport was being planned, alongside measures concerning flight scheduling and slot management, with further expansion expected in the future.

Passengers also complained about airline services, ticketing, flight delays and commercial facilities at the airport. Saeed directed the relevant officials to investigate the complaints and contact the concerned airlines where necessary, while regulatory matters were to be referred to the competent authorities.

Other issues raised included parking fees, food and retail facilities, availability of chilled drinking water and photocopying services, access to the airport, visits by educational institutions and employment opportunities.
