Servant killed resisting house robbery

RAWALPINDI:

A 38-year-old domestic worker was strangled to death when four armed robbers allegedly killed him for resisting a robbery at the house of a serving government employee in Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town, within the Dhamial police station limits.

The robbers fled with jewellery, cash and mobile phones worth millions of rupees. Later, one of the suspects was injured in an alleged exchange of fire with police on Chakri Road, but all four suspects, including the wounded man, managed to escape.

According to police sources, four robbers riding two motorcycles entered the house and held the woman hostage at gunpoint. During the robbery, domestic worker Muhammad Ali, 38, who was present in the servant quarters, resisted. The suspects allegedly took him to a bathroom and strangled him with the chain of a hand shower.

Police said the body of the victim, who was from Chakwal, was handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination.

The robbers escaped with jewellery worth around Rs1 million, cash and mobile phones.
