The Crew Girl cast reveals the intense rowing training and cold conditions they faced while filming the Netflix series

The cast of Netflix’s upcoming series Crew Girl has opened up about the demanding rowing training they underwent to portray competitive athletes on screen.
Miku Martineau, Sam Braun and Kyle Clark discussed the experience ahead of the Netflix series’ premiere on September 10. Martineau, who plays Teagan Tao, faced an especially busy schedule while filming another movie alongside her preparation for the role.
The 21-year-old actress said she worked night shoots during the week before using her weekends for rowing training on a lake. Despite the demanding routine, Martineau said she enjoyed learning a new sport and spending time on the water.

However, filming in British Columbia during the autumn brought additional challenges. Braun recalled one October shoot when the cast faced fog and cold temperatures while waiting for a drone to be prepared. Rain also arrived, making conditions even more difficult for the actors as they filmed on the water.
The cast used heat packs and blankets to stay warm between takes. Martineau also highlighted the technical challenges involved in filming rowing scenes, explaining that the production had to balance learning the sport with camera work and safety requirements.
The actors also wanted to make sure their performances accurately represented rowing. Martineau said that, as someone who grew up playing sports, she understood the importance of portraying an athletic discipline correctly.
Crew Girl follows 16-year-old Teagan, a talented single-sculls rower whose future is disrupted by a family scandal. After moving to a prestigious prep school, she joins its dysfunctional boys’ varsity crew as the team’s coxswain.
Crew Girl premieres on Netflix on September 10.
