Student wins accolades at foreign contest

RAWALPINDI:

Eleven-year-old Pakistani student Raja Muhammad Hamza Kaithwal has brought pride to the country by winning five international medals at the World Scholars Cup held in Bangkok, Thailand, where he represented Pakistan independently without the sponsorship or support of the government or the Pakistani embassy.

Around 2,200 students from across the world participated in the competition, which included debating and creative speaking contests.

Hamza, a Class V student at a private school in Attock district of the Rawalpindi Division, represented Pakistan at his own expense and emerged among the winners.

His father, Raja Imran, and mother, Dr Iram Kulsoom Niazi, are both doctors.

After winning international medals and bringing recognition to Pakistan, Hamza returned home to Attock, where his parents, teachers and members of educational and administrative circles have been congratulating him.
