Korean delegates explore Gandhara heritage

A Korean delegation visited Taxila Museum and the ancient archaeological city of Sirkap, and explored its ancient heritage while receiving a briefing on Gandhara civilisation, rare artefacts, historic significance of ancient sites.

Director General of the Korea Heritage Agency Kim Yun-wook and ODA Project Manager Jeon Beom-hwan visited the Taxila Museum and the ancient archaeological city of Sirkap.

The delegation was received by SRO Taxila Deputy Director Mohammad Asim Dogar and the assistant curator of the Taxila Museum. The guests were given a detailed briefing on Taxila's historical significance, the Gandhara civilisation and the rare and precious artefacts preserved at the museum.

The Korean delegation viewed the remarkable artefacts of the Gandhara civilisation at the Taxila Museum and later visited the remains of the ancient city of Sirkap. The delegation expressed keen interest in the architectural features, historical heritage and cultural significance of the ancient city and the region.

Taxila is not merely an archaeological site but embodies a thousands-year-old story of interaction among different civilisations, religions and cultures. This unique historical heritage continues to attract experts and tourists from around the world.

During the visit, the importance of further promoting mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Korea in cultural exchanges, preservation of archaeological sites, research and protection of historical heritage was emphasised.
