Marriyum defends Punjab CM's terrorism remarks

Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday condemned the "deliberate attempt" to distort Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's remarks on counterterrorism by presenting them negatively on social media, saying her comments about the inter-provincial movement of terrorists had been given a "provincial and ethnic" colour for political point-scoring.

"Presenting Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's remarks regarding measures against terrorism in a negative manner on social media is extremely regrettable and a condemnable and reprehensible attempt to distort the entire context of the conversation," the PML-N leader said in a post on X.

"The Chief Minister Punjab was talking about the inter-provincial movement of terrorists and the threats arising from it, which political envious people deliberately and politically gave the colour of provincialism and ethnicity for the petty purpose of political point-scoring," she said.

"CM Maryam Nawaz always respects the provinces and all the nations living in them," Aurangzeb said.

"Such elements are facilitators of terrorists and want division among the nation," she added.

"Linking the issue of counterterrorism with provincialism is extremely petty and regrettable," she said.
