Fuel prices push up transport fares again

RAWALPINDI:

Goods transporters and public transport operators have once again increased fares following the government's continued increase in petrol and diesel prices.

The increase in goods transport fares has started making essential commodities, vegetables and fruit more expensive.

Fares from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, within the city and surrounding areas have also been increased by Rs15 to Rs20. The minimum stop-to-stop fare has been raised to Rs60.

Bykea motorcycle transporters have also increased fares from Rs150 to up to Rs200.

The rise in goods transport fares within the city has also made the transportation of essential commodities, including flour and sugar, more expensive.
