Lahore Zoo welcomes 29 new animals

Lahore Zoo has added 29 animals belonging to five species, taking its total number of species from 112 to 116 and increasing its overall collection of animals, birds and reptiles from 726 to 755.

The newly arrived animals include two male and three female Burchell's zebras, one male and one female Arabian oryx, three male and seven female mouflon sheep, one male and two female hog deer and six male and three female spotted deer.

Lahore Zoo Director Dr Ghulam Rasool said the addition of the animals would enhance species diversity and provide visitors with a better recreational and educational experience.

He said necessary arrangements were being made for the animals' food, healthcare and welfare to ensure their proper care.

Lahore Zoo is a popular recreational destination for families and children, with its collection of animals and birds attracting visitors throughout the year.

The addition of the new species is expected to further increase public interest in the zoo.

Visitors welcomed the arrival of the animals and said it would offer children a more engaging opportunity to observe and learn about wildlife.

Visitor Ali Raza said the zoo should continue efforts to introduce rare and diverse species to provide visitors with greater opportunities to learn about wildlife.

Another visitor, Ayesha Khan, also welcomed the development and called for further expansion of the zoo's animal collection.
