Pakistan, Turkiye reaffirm commitment to defence, strategic partnership on 104th anniversary of Turkish Victory Day

Pakistan and Turkiye reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their defence and strategic partnership on Monday as they commemorated the 104th of Victory Day, according to the military's media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that a ceremony to commemorate the 104th anniversary of Turkish Armed Forces Victory Day was held at General Headquarters (GHQ), adding that Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan İrfan Neziroğlu graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said that the ceremony highlighted the enduring "bonds of brotherhood" and close bilateral relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, rooted in shared values, mutual respect and a history of unwavering support for each other.
"On the occasion, participants paid tribute to the valour and sacrifices of the Turkish Armed Forces and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding defence and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye," the ISPR said.

The military’s media wing stated that the event was attended by military officers and officials of Türkiye and other distinguished guests.
"The ceremony concluded with warm expressions of goodwill for the people and Armed Forces of the Republic of Türkiye," the ISPR added.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif felicitated President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the people of Turkiye a day ago on Victory Day.

In a post on X, the president said Pakistan and Turkiye enjoyed a unique and enduring relationship, rooted in deep bonds of history, faith and mutual support.

He recalled that the Great Victory of 30 August 1922 remained an important chapter in Turkiye's history and expressed confidence that the close ties between the two countries would continue to grow.
The president wished President Erdogan and the people of Turkiye continued peace, prosperity and success.
In a post on X, the premier stated that the 30th of August commemorates the "historic victory secured under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, which laid the foundations of the modern Turkish Republic".
"Pakistan joins its Turkish brothers and sisters in honouring this proud legacy of courage and national resolve", he added.
