ISLAMABAD:

Human rights lawyers Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha filed appeals against their convictions in the barriers removal case in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday, along with separate applications seeking suspension of their sentences and release on bail pending the outcome of the appeals.

The appeals were filed by advocates Faisal Siddiqui, Riasat Ali Azad and Zainab Janjua. They argued that the trial court had failed to fulfil the requirements of a fair trial and cited various judicial precedents concerning the transparency of criminal proceedings.
