Xbox boss offers cryptic response on whether Elder Scrolls 6 will be a console exclusive

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma avoids confirming whether The Elder Scrolls 6 will be Xbox console exclusive

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has declined to clarify whether The Elder Scrolls 6 will become an Xbox console exclusive, instead offering brief praise for Bethesda’s long-awaited role-playing game.

The game’s eventual platforms remain unconfirmed, with Microsoft placing renewed emphasis on exclusive titles.

Upcoming releases such as Gears of War: E-Day are set to be console exclusives, prompting questions about whether Bethesda’s next Elder Scrolls game could follow the same approach.

During an interview with the BBC at Gamescom, Sharma was asked whether making The Elder Scrolls 6 exclusive was a priority for Xbox. Rather than directly addressing the game’s platform plans, she responded: “It’s a beautiful game”.

Before discussing The Elder Scrolls 6 specifically, Sharma outlined Xbox’s broader approach to exclusive content and its importance to the company’s platforms.

“We are increasingly going to be one of the largest platforms in the world. Every platform needs some form of exclusive experiences and content,” she said.

“And so, what we’ve shared is Gears and Clockwork. We’re going to do the best we can to continue to do that, all in the context of the business being healthy, and so we have to balance that.”

Sharma has previously discussed seeing The Elder Scrolls 6 in development. Earlier in August, the Xbox CEO revealed that she watched a live playthrough during a visit to Bethesda and praised the game’s “scale and grandeur”.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced in 2018 with a brief teaser, several years before Microsoft completed its acquisition of Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax, in 2021.
