HFH to have cryoablation machine

RAWALPINDI:

A cryoablation machine for cancer treatment will soon be handed over to Holy Family Hospital, the city's largest hospital, while a team from the hospital has been sent to Lahore for training.

Cancer patients are currently being treated through a cryoablation machine at Mayo Hospital, Lahore.

According to sources, Holy Family Hospital had selected a site for the machine on the directions of the Health Department and formally submitted a request for it. Doctors and staff associated with the treatment method are now being trained.

It may be recalled that after five patients were successfully treated at Lahore's Mayo Hospital using the first cryoablation machine imported from China on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a decision was taken to install the machine at major hospitals in other divisional headquarters across the province and provide free cancer treatment.

The cryoablation machine will soon be installed at Holy Family Hospital, after which free treatment of cancer patients will begin.

The machine is considered an effective treatment for cancers that do not require surgery. Cancers developing in the kidneys, lungs, breast, liver, bladder and other parts of the human body can be treated through cryoablation.

Relatives of cancer patients who may be eligible for treatment through the machine have been contacting the Holy Family Hospital administration to inquire when it will be installed and made functional.
