'Wanted suspect killed in encounter'

RAWALPINDI:

A suspected police encounter in the Waris Khan area left a wanted suspect dead, while another suspect managed to escape and was being searched for, police said.

According to police, a team raided a graveyard in the area based on information provided by arrested suspect Hamza alias Kodu in connection with a robbery case. The police said they took Hamza along and were approaching the location when his accomplices, Wahab and Riasat alias Kaka, opened fire on the police team.

The officers took cover behind graves and called on the suspects to surrender, but they continued firing. When the firing stopped, police found one suspect dead.
