Woman accuses in-laws of torture
Police yet to arrest suspects, case registered

A woman has accused her husband, along with her parents-in-law and brother-in-law, of allegedly subjecting her to violence, locking her in a room and threatening to set her on fire in the Gohra Phaprial area of Murree.
Police registered a case, but none of the nominated suspects has been arrested so far. The victim's family has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for justice.
According to details, the woman, identified as Ramsha, told police that she had married Ehtisham Hamid two and a half years ago and they had a son, who is now one-and-a-half years old. She said she had been living with her husband in Bhara Kahu but had come to Gohra Phaprial, Murree, during the summer.
She alleged that her husband Ehtisham Hamid, father-in-law Abdul Hamid and brother-in-law Zaki brought her belongings to Gohra Phaprial without informing her. When she questioned them, her mother- and father-in-law allegedly scolded her.
Ramsha said she informed her husband that his parents and brother had arrived there.
She alleged that her mother-in-law held her while her husband began beating her, and her father-in-law grabbed her by the collar, tearing her shirt. She said her brother-in-law snatched her mobile phone during a scuffle, while her husband punched her in the face, injuring her.
She further alleged that her brother-in-law locked her in a room.
She called her father and told him that her in-laws had taken her belongings from the house. According to her, the family continued threatening to burn her.
Her father and other relatives arrived shortly afterwards, following which she was released from the room. Her father called emergency helpline 15. She said she underwent a medical examination before approaching the police station.
Police registered a case against her husband Ehtisham Hamid, father-in-law and brother-in-law for allegedly beating and mistreating her. However, no suspect has been arrested.
