Rob Reiner’s children Jake and Romy testify in brother Nick’s murder case
Jake and Romy Reiner testified before Los Angeles grand jury in case against their brother Nick for parents' death

Rob Reiner’s children Jake and Romy Reiner testified before a Los Angeles grand jury in the murder case against their brother, Nick Reiner.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Jake and Romy appeared before the grand jury, which indicted Nick on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.
The indictment also includes a special circumstance allegation that Nick committed the murders by lying in wait. Following the indictment, Nick pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman addressed the case in a statement unsealed in court last Wednesday.
"This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing," Hochman said.
"The indictment unsealed today also adds a special circumstance allegation that the defendant committed the murders by means of lying in wait," he continued.
"We hope that by having a grand jury return an indictment in this case it will bring us one step closer to a trial and achieving justice."
The grand jury’s indictment means Nick’s case will proceed without a preliminary hearing. His pretrial hearing is scheduled for September 15. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.
Jake and Romy have been involved in the investigation since the deaths of their parents. Their sister, whose name was not provided in the report, previously directed police towards a family member as a potential suspect and described that person as "dangerous."
Rob and Michele’s bodies were discovered by their 28-year-old daughter after they failed to answer the door for a scheduled massage appointment.
She reportedly found her parents dead at their home and told police that Nick had been living there, although he was not present when she arrived.
