Jailed PTI leaders back JI sit-ins

LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders detained at Kot Lakhpat Jail have announced their support for Jamaat-e-Islami's (JI) nationwide sit-ins against inflation, petroleum levy and rising electricity prices.

In a joint statement, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, Umar Sarfraz Cheema and Senator Ejaz Chaudhry urged the PTI central leadership to also announce its support for the JI campaign.

The detained leaders called on young people across the country to participate in the campaign and put pressure on the government to abolish

the petroleum levy system and take measures to reduce inflation.
