.

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has indicated that it may initiate contempt proceedings against officials of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over an alleged delay in implementing a court order directing the disposal of a citizen's application within 30 days.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Dr Usman Anwar to submit a detailed record of all directors appointed to the NCCIA since its establishment, along with their appointment dates and details of subsequent changes in leadership.
The court also sought the exact date on which the NCCIA was established and a report on all pending inquiries. The FIA director general was summoned again with the report on Monday.
During the hearing, she recalled that the court had directed in 2024 that his application be decided within 30 days. The chief justice questioned how many directors general and directors had been changed since the court's order, observing that there could be several similar cases if citizens were unable to obtain relief without approaching courts.
