Two booked over false rape report

Two people, including a woman, were booked for providing false information to police and making serious allegations, police said.

According to police, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rizwan Awan told Dhamial police station that a complaint had been received through emergency helpline 15. Waqar Khan reported that a man had raped a woman at Banni Stop. When police reached the spot, the caller was not present and his phone was switched off.

At Banni Stop, police found a woman who identified herself as Shahana Kausar. She told police that she had learnt that a man named Shahid, who lived near Banni Stop and helped poor people, could help her. She said she went to Shahid's house and sought his help.

According to her statement, Shahid took her inside the house, where no one else was present, pulled out a pistol and placed it on a table before sexually assaulting her. She said he then wrote his phone number on a slip and asked her to call him the following day, promising to help her.

She said she came outside and asked Bykea rider Waqar Khan, with whom she had gone to Shahid's house, to call emergency helpline 15. He made the call.

Considering the circumstances narrated by Shahana suspicious, police conducted an inquiry, which did not confirm the incident. During questioning by a fem

le constable, Shahana disclosed that her real name was Musarrat Ghafoor.

She admitted that no rape had taken place and that, at the behest of a person named Raja Riasat, she had fabricated a false incident against Shahid and had Waqar Khan, the Bykea rider, make the call to 15.
