I-Day stalls spring up across Pindi

With Pakistan's 79th Independence Day approaching, stalls selling national flags, badges, flag-themed children's garments, toys, horns and gifts have sprung up across the city.

Such stalls have been set up at all major commercial centres, small and large markets, streets and neighbourhoods.

The most popular items at these stalls are small and large horns. Children, youngsters and students are buying the large horns and creating loud "pee-pee" sounds in streets and neighbourhoods, disturbing the sleep, peace and comfort of citizens.

The Independence Day preparations have added colour and activity to markets. Children, adults and women can be seen purchasing national flags, flag-themed children's garments and dupattas from the stalls.

Stalls selling flags have also appeared in markets, commercial centres and residential areas.

Markets and commercial centres are witnessing a large number of Independence Day stalls. National flags, badges and flag-themed garments are being sold at these stalls. Flag-themed dupattas, ladies' suits and children's garments are also available.

The loud horns have made life difficult for residents with their continuous "pee-pee" sounds in streets and neighbourhoods.

Firecrackers, including Chinese firecrackers, are also being set off by youngsters and children. Flag-themed badges, toys, caps and different types of gifts are available as well. Due to soaring inflation, prices of flags and flag-themed garments have also doubled.

Large horns producing frighteningly loud sounds are being sold for Rs150 to Rs200.
