Sadie Sink gives X-Men filming update behind Cyclops casting

Sadie Sink says she is learning about X-Men casting through director Jake Schreier as filming plans take shape

Sadie Sink has shared an update on Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men film, revealing that she is being kept "a little bit separate" from the casting process for Cyclops, also known as Scott Summers.

Sink's comments come after her character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day was revealed as Jean Grey, a powerful mutant with telekinetic and telepathic abilities.

Her appearance is expected to connect to the planned X-Men reboot, directed by Jake Schreier.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Sink said she is learning about the casting process from Schreier rather than being directly involved.

"So, I'm finding out through Jake," Sink said. "There's also so many online rumors, but it's coming together. I think the timing of it is so exciting, and the way they planned it out is really clever just with introducing one of the mutants, a very important mutant through Spider-Man. I think a great cast is coming together, and I think people are going to be really excited about it when it's all announced."

Sink was also asked about reports that Kit Connor had read for the role of Cyclops, who is a love interest of Jean Grey in Marvel's comics. She indicated that she was not aware of whether the reports were official.

"Did he? There's always the rumors, and I just never know what's official," Sink said.

Casting for Schreier's X-Men is currently underway. Samara Weaving has reportedly been offered the role of Emma Frost, while Connor has reportedly read for Cyclops.

Sink also outlined her upcoming schedule, saying X-Men filming will be followed by a new series from FX and A24.

"We'll shoot X-Men, and then I'm going to do a series with FX and A24 called The Marriage Plot, so that'll be next year," Sink said.

She added that the conclusion of Stranger Things will give her more room in her schedule.

"With Stranger Things ending, it'll feel weird next year not being like, Oh wait, we got to shoot another season. We have to get ready to go back to Atlanta to shoot. It's exciting to be able to have more room in the schedule."

The X-Men film's full cast and production details have yet to be announced.
