Megan Thee Stallion legal dispute with former photographer Emilio Garcia to continue as judge denied summary judgment

Megan Thee Stallion's legal dispute with former photographer Emilio Garcia will continue after a federal judge declined to dismiss the remaining claims in his lawsuit.

US District Judge Gregory H. Woods denied Megan's request for summary judgment on August 7, finding that disputes over the facts of the case still need to be resolved.

The decision does not determine that Garcia's allegations are true, but means some issues cannot be settled based on the evidence currently before the court.

Garcia filed the lawsuit in 2024 against Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete. He has accused his former employer of wage violations, unfair compensation and creating a hostile work environment.

Garcia has also alleged that he was improperly classified as an independent contractor and was not paid fairly for all the work he performed.

One of the allegations concerns a 2022 trip to Ibiza, Spain. Garcia claims he was travelling in an SUV with Megan and other women when Megan had sex with another woman beside him.

He alleged that he could not leave because the vehicle was moving and that Megan later told him not to discuss what he had witnessed.

His complaint also alleges that Megan made comments about his weight and that changes to his pay reduced his income.

Megan and her legal team have denied Garcia's allegations. Her attorney, Alex Spiro, previously characterised the lawsuit primarily as an employment dispute.

The case was initially filed in California before being transferred to federal court in New York. Woods dismissed some of Garcia's original claims but allowed parts of his wage-related and hostile work environment claims to continue.

Megan's legal team subsequently asked the court to resolve those remaining claims without a trial.

Woods declined, citing conflicting accounts and evidence concerning Garcia's employment and working conditions.
