Sophia Laforteza steps away from Katseye to focus on mental health
Katseye's Sophia Laforteza temporarily stepping away to prioritise mental health, months after Manon Bannerman Hiatus

Katseye vocalist Sophia Laforteza is temporarily stepping away from the group to focus on her mental health and wellbeing, making her the second member to take a break from the group this year.
HYBE x Geffen Records announced that Laforteza "will be temporarily unable to participate in upcoming promotional activities".
The label said the decision was made to prioritise her health as she receives support and consults medical professionals.
"We understand how much EYEKONS were looking forward to seeing Sophia on stage, but it is imperative that her mental health and wellness are prioritised," the label said.
According to the statement, Laforteza has been receiving "the utmost support" and has been advised to take "extended rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery". The label added that her condition will be reassessed in September.
"While Sophia herself is eager to perform alongside her members, the health, safety and long-term wellbeing of our artists will always remain our highest priority," the statement said.
Laforteza also addressed fans in an Instagram post, explaining why she had decided to step away from the group.

Katseye was formed with six members in 2023 and received two Grammy nominations last year. The group will now continue promotional appearances with four members while Laforteza takes her temporary break.
