Molly Ringwald has opened up about her experience working on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, revealing that the ABC Family drama was the lowest-rated project of her career when it came to her personal experience on set.

The actress shared her thoughts during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she participated in the “Spill the IMDb Tea” segment. During the game, Ringwald was asked to rank several of her past projects based on her overall experience, with scores ranging from one to 10.

When discussing The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Ringwald gave the series the lowest possible score and described it as her “worst” work experience. She explained that while she enjoyed working with the cast, including Shailene Woodley, one unnamed person on the production made the experience difficult.

“I love the cast. I love Shailene,” Ringwald said, adding that a particular individual’s behaviour was the reason the project received such a low rating from her.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager aired from 2008 to 2013 and followed the story of Amy Juergens, a teenager dealing with an unexpected pregnancy. Ringwald played Amy’s mother, Anne Juergens, and appeared as a series regular during the first four seasons before returning as a guest star for the final season.

During the same interview, Ringwald reflected more positively on some of her other career highlights. She named Pretty in Pink as her favourite project, giving the classic 1986 romantic comedy a perfect score. The actress praised the film’s writer John Hughes, saying the role was created specifically for her.

Ringwald also discussed other notable projects, including Diff’rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, Not Another Teen Movie, Teaching Mrs. Tingle and Jem and the Holograms.
