Rising pop star Sombr has reflected on his rapid rise to fame, Taylor Swift's support and the personal challenges that have accompanied his success in a candid new interview.

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter, whose real name is Shane Boose, told Variety that life has changed dramatically since his breakout hit "Back to Friends" became a global success. His debut album, I Barely Know Her, has surpassed 4 billion streams, while his growing popularity has seen him progress from intimate venues to arena-sized performances.

Despite his success, Sombr admitted that fame has brought increased online scrutiny. He said false rumours and negative comments no longer affect him as deeply, adding that people are free to say what they want because he knows who he is.

The singer also spoke openly about body image, revealing that online criticism inspired his latest single, "My Body Isn't Ready." Sombr said he hopes the song helps listeners who struggle with self-confidence by showing they are not alone. He also shared that eating has been a lifelong challenge, often forcing himself to eat before concerts to maintain enough energy to perform.

Sombr credited Taylor Swift with encouraging his career after she publicly praised his music and later invited him to perform at her Songwriters Hall of Fame celebration. He described receiving Swift's endorsement as surreal and said her praise left a lasting impression.

Looking ahead, Sombr said navigating relationships has become more complicated since achieving mainstream fame, explaining that he is more cautious about people's intentions. However, he added that he continues to draw inspiration from his personal experiences as he works on new music.
