Curry Barker has revealed that a longer version of his horror film Obsession exists and that he hopes to release it in the near future.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the filmmaker said the extended edition runs approximately 20 minutes longer than the theatrical release. The film currently has a runtime of 108 minutes, meaning the additional footage could bring the alternative version close to two hours and 10 minutes.

Barker was careful to distinguish the longer edition from the film’s director’s cut, describing the theatrical version as the definitive director’s cut. The version he hopes to release would instead be an extended cut featuring additional material.

“I would say that there’s a longer version of the movie that I would love to release, for sure,” Barker said.

The announcement has sparked interest among viewers curious about what was left out of the final edit. However, Barker has not confirmed a release date or explained how the additional scenes would change the finished film.

Obsession marked a major breakthrough for Barker, who previously built an audience through comedy and sketch videos on YouTube before moving into feature filmmaking. The horror project was reportedly filmed in just 20 days on a budget of approximately $750,000.

Its commercial performance helped establish Barker as a filmmaker to watch, while also generating discussion about the possibility of a sequel.

Barker is also attached to a reboot of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. His next feature, Anything But Ghosts, is expected to come before that project.

For now, the extended edition remains a possibility rather than a confirmed release. Barker has expressed interest in making the additional footage available, but further details about its distribution have yet to be announced.
