Sydney Sweeney backed by former Bond girl for potential role in next 007 film
Trina Parks says Sydney Sweeney has qualities to become next leading lady in James Bond franchise

Sydney Sweeney has received support from a former James Bond actress as speculation continues over the future of the long-running film franchise and its next leading man.
Trina Parks, who played Thumper opposite Sean Connery in the 1971 film Diamonds Are Forever, has said Sweeney would make a suitable Bond girl in the upcoming era of 007. Parks made history as the first Black actress to portray a Bond girl in the series.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Parks praised Sweeney's acting range, confidence and screen presence, suggesting that her approach to her public image would suit the franchise's changing portrayal of female characters.
"She has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity," she said. "Not only is she a talented actress, but has this Hollywood classic kind of style and poise, which really works for her projects and brand."
Parks also discussed how the role of women in Bond films has evolved, arguing that modern audiences expect female characters to have greater independence.
"I feel for modern cinema and film-making and the future of Bond, audiences want to see a woman opposite Bond who is independent and has ownership of her sexuality — Sydney has those qualities," she added.
The comments come as producers reportedly begin the search for Daniel Craig's successor following his departure from the franchise in 2021's No Time To Die.
Actors Callum Turner and Jack Lowden have been linked to the final audition stages, although no replacement has been officially confirmed.
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are reportedly considering a significant reinvention of the franchise for a new generation.
