73 flood relief camps planned across Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR:

The Punjab government will establish 73 flood relief camps across Bahawalpur Division as part of its monsoon preparedness plan, Provincial Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Disaster Management Khawaja Salman Rafique said on Tuesday.

Chairing a meeting at the Commissioner Office Baha-walpur, the minister reviewed flood preparedness and emergency response measures in line with directions issued by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia, Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Saif Anwar Jappa, Deputy Commis-sioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza, Deputy Commis-sioner Bahawalnagar Syed Muhammad Abbas Shah, Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan Zaheer Anwar Jappa and senior officials of relevant departments.

Addressing the meeting, Salman Rafique said all ma-jor arrangements to deal with potential flooding had been completed in advance.
