Linda Blair breaks silence after police search property over reported 100-dog kennel operation

Linda Blair has spoken out after authorities searched her Southern California property as part of an investigation into a reported kennel operation housing more than 100 dogs, insisting that both she and the animals are safe and describing the issue as a matter of paperwork.

The The Exorcist star addressed the incident in an Instagram post shared hours after the inspection, reassuring supporters that there was "nothing but some paperwork to do and some diagrams". Blair explained that she has been trying to relocate for the past two years so she can expand her animal rescue work, adding that she would "rather move forward" than dwell on the unexpected visit.

The search was carried out on July 31 under an inspection warrant by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control and the Department of Regional Planning. Officials said the operation was launched following reports of a kennel housing more than 100 dogs and was intended to assess the welfare of the animals, inspect the property's structures and verify compliance with county regulations. Authorities also noted that the kennel's permits had expired in 2023 and alleged that previous attempts to contact Blair had gone unanswered.

Blair was described as fully cooperative during the inspection, and no animals were removed from the property. Authorities stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and said they could not comment further while the review continues.

In a video accompanying her post, Blair thanked supporters for their concern and reiterated that the visit had not changed her commitment to animal welfare. She also encouraged people to support the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, the rescue charity she founded in 2003, through donations, volunteering or fostering animals, calling the current rescue crisis "a big" challenge across California and the United States.

Best known for her Oscar-nominated performance in The Exorcist, Blair has devoted much of her life to animal rescue over the past three decades. She has frequently described caring for abused, neglected and abandoned animals as her life's calling, with her foundation helping to rehabilitate and rehome thousands of dogs.
