Naval chief reaffirms long-term cooperation with Belarus

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening long-term, multidimensional ties with Belarus during a meeting with a visiting Belarusian military delegation.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a delegation from the Republic of Belarus, led by Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Defence Minister Major General Pavel Muraveiko, called on Admiral Ashraf at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.

"During the meeting, professional matters of mutual interest, including defence collaboration, were discussed," the ISPR said.

Admiral Ashraf said Pakistan valued its relations with Belarus and desired to forge long-term, multidimensional cooperation with the country.

The visiting dignitary appreciated the Pakistan Navy's efforts and commitment towards regional maritime security. Both sides also agreed to further strengthen and diversify the scope of the existing bilateral defence relationship.

The meeting took place during the visit of a high-level Belarusian defence delegation to Pakistan, led by Major General Muraveiko, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

A day earlier, the delegation called on Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, during which the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, defence cooperation and prospects for enhanced military collaboration.

During the meeting, the air chief reaffirmed the Pakistan Air Force's commitment to further strengthening bilateral defence ties, underscoring the importance of expanding cooperation through joint training, military exercises, technological collaboration and defence-industrial partnerships.
