Usher faces awkward onstage moment with fan during Nashville R&B Tour show

The fan later defended her reaction after the uncomfortable onstage moment with Usher went viral on social media

An awkward onstage interaction between Usher and a fan during his Nashville concert has gone viral after the singer ended the segment when it became clear the audience member was uncomfortable.

The incident took place during The R&B Tour with Chris Brown on Saturday, when Usher invited a woman from the crowd onto the stage as part of his signature audience interaction.

As the singer performed shirtless and attempted to engage with the fan, she appeared visibly uneasy and repeatedly avoided his advances.

The moment reached its turning point when Usher encouraged the fan to recline on an onstage bed, but she stepped back instead. Looking towards the audience, the 47-year-old said, “I don’t think she want to be on the stage, huh?”

Usher then signalled for crew members to escort the fan off stage before selecting another audience member. Some concertgoers could be heard booing as the exchange ended.

The fan, later identified on social media as Gabrielle Cheyenne, responded to criticism over her reaction.

Addressing comments suggesting she should not have accepted the invitation, she wrote, “First off NOBODY is declining to go on stage. I looked good asf, you think I wasn’t going to let THOUSANDS of people see me?”

She also explained that she and her mother had originally been seated on the floor before being upgraded to the VIP section, adding, “They don’t say who you’re going up there for! Y’all wanted me to go up there and f**k him atp?”

In a separate post, she captioned a selfie, “Unbothered 😘,” before adding on Instagram Stories, “My attitude isn't ‘nasty’ until I'm provoked!!” She also criticised online abuse, saying people were judging “an EXPERIENCE that yall didn't get”.

Usher is well known for inviting fans on stage during his concerts, with many of the interactions becoming viral moments.
