'The Odyssey' full film leaked on X racks up millions of views before take down

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has become the latest blockbuster hit by a major piracy incident after a high-quality bootleg of the entire film, which is currently playing in cinemas, spread rapidly across X and was viewed by more than two million people before being removed.

According to Variety, the unauthorised copy appeared on the social media platform and quickly went viral, allowing users to watch nearly the entire film from a high-quality recording. Although the posts were eventually taken down following copyright complaints, the bootleg had already amassed millions of views and was widely shared across the platform.

The leak comes just days after The Odyssey opened in cinemas, raising concerns about its potential impact on the film's theatrical run. Despite the piracy, the epic has enjoyed a strong box office debut and has been widely praised by critics and audiences since its release.

Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, the film features an ensemble cast including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o and Charlize Theron. Nolan's adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic follows the legendary king of Ithaca on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War and was shot entirely using IMAX 70mm film cameras.

Universal Pictures has not publicly commented on the source of the leak. The incident marks one of the highest-profile cases of film piracy in recent years, with a near-complete, high-quality copy of a major studio release circulating widely on social media while the film is still in its theatrical run.
