'Our Sticky Love' faces criticism over storyline as Jung Hae-in draws backlash for Kim Soo-hyun support

Netflix's upcoming Korean drama Our Sticky Love is facing criticism online ahead of its August premiere, with some viewers raising concerns over the series' central storyline while also renewing criticism of lead actor Jung Hae-in following his public support for Kim Soo-hyun.

The 12-episode romantic comedy stars Jung Hae-in opposite Ha Young and is scheduled to premiere on August 7.

According to the official synopsis, the drama follows prosecutor Go Eun-sae, who loses her memory after a suspicious accident.

As she recovers in a rural village, former boxer Jang Tae-ha claims to be her boyfriend in an effort to protect her while concealing their shared past and his own connection to the criminal organisation she had been investigating.

While the series blends romance, mystery and action, some social media users have criticised the premise, arguing that a romance built on deception involving an amnesiac protagonist is inappropriate and romanticises manipulative behaviour.

Criticism has also focused on Jung Hae-in after the actor publicly welcomed Kim Soo-hyun's return to work by liking a social media post from a clothing brand announcing the actor's comeback campaign.

According to reports, Jung has continued to show support despite previous calls from some fans to distance himself from Kim.

Kim Soo-hyun suspended activities in 2025 following allegations regarding his past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron.

He has denied dating her while she was a minor, and his agency has disputed key evidence presented against him, stating that alleged KakaoTalk conversations were fabricated and that an audio recording had been manipulated using artificial intelligence.

The renewed attention has fuelled criticism of Our Sticky Love across social media, with some users linking Jung Hae-in's support for Kim Soo-hyun to their decision not to watch the series.
