Encroached land retrieved in crackdown

The Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) has prepared a plan to remove encroachments on defence and cantonment land worth millions of rupees in various parts of the cantonment that were allegedly established through fake sale deeds, fake PTDs and PTOs.

In the first phase, illegal structures on 25 marlas of land worth millions of rupees located on Double Road between Rahimabad Bridge and Tipu Road were demolished, ending an occupation that had remained in place for 40 years.

According to officials, the CCB has compiled a comprehensive report on residential and commercial defence and cantonment land in different parts of Chaklala Cantonment that has allegedly been occupied for several years through fake sale deeds, fake PTDs and PTOs. The land, valued at millions of rupees, will now be reclaimed in phases under the board's plan.

As part of the operation, the board demolished structures built on a 25-marla plot on Double Road between Rahimabad Bridge and Tipu Road.

The land, classified as Defence A-2, had been acquired by the government in 1921. It had allegedly remained under illegal residential and commercial occupation for the past 40 years before being reclaimed during a major operation carried out a day earlier.

Cantonment Executive Officer Arifeen Zubair Chaudhry said no occupation of government-owned land would be tolerated, regardless of the influence of those involved. He said encroachments would be removed in every case.

He added that details of all encroachments on government land across the cantonment had been collected and a comprehensive plan had been prepared to reclaim the occupied land, which would be implemented in full.

The CEO also urged citizens to identify encroachments on government land.

He said government-owned land, regardless of its status, could no longer remain under illegal occupation through forged documents.
