Viral raccoon Jimothy joins Skyrim and Stardew Valley through fan-made mods

Internet-famous raccoon Jimothy has inspired new Skyrim and Stardew Valley mods created by fans

Jimothy, the raccoon who became an internet sensation after being spotted in Seattle, has now made the leap into video games thanks to a series of fan-created mods for Skyrim and Stardew Valley.

The raccoon gained widespread attention after people shared sightings of him on social media. Jimothy was born with a genetic condition that left his spine much shorter than normal, giving him a distinctive hunched appearance and making him closer in size to a small dog than a typical raccoon.

Seattle has recently sighted a Raccoon that frequents the local parks with Short Spine Syndrome (SSS).

His unusual appearance quickly made him a favourite online, with fans continuing to share photos, videos and artwork inspired by the animal.

Now, modders have brought Jimothy into some of gaming's most popular titles.

As first highlighted by Polygon, Nexus Mods creator "triptherift" has added Jimothy to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The mod places the raccoon among the wildlife found in settlements, allowing players to encounter and pet him while exploring locations such as Riverwood.

Stardew Valley has also received multiple Jimothy-themed modifications. Mod creator "kirbysteaks" introduced the raccoon as a farm animal that players can purchase from Marnie.

According to the mod description, players can build an "army" of Jimothys, with the creator also planning to add a baby version in a future update.

In the game, Jimothy occasionally rewards players with gifts. These typically include trash and seeds, although players also have a chance of receiving treasure.

Another Stardew Valley mod, created by "SmolHooman", introduces Jimothy as a pet rather than a farm animal. Players can increase their friendship with him by ensuring he is fed and given water.

The gaming tributes extend beyond Skyrim and Stardew Valley. Jimothy has also appeared as an official non-player character in Dungeons & Dragons.
