Jenna Ortega and Rose Byrne team up for Warner Bros’ gymnastics thriller ‘Nasty’
Jenna Ortega and Rose Byrne will lead Warner Bros’ 'Nasty', a drama about an Olympic gymnast facing her coach.

Jenna Ortega and Oscar-nominated actress Rose Byrne are set to star in Warner Bros’ upcoming drama Nasty, a new film from filmmaker Mary Bronstein and production company LuckyChap Entertainment.
The project is scheduled to begin filming this fall under Warner Bros’ Clockwork banner. Nasty marks another collaboration between Bronstein and Byrne following their previous film If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, which earned Byrne widespread acclaim and her first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Based on Isabella Jarosz’s 2024 Black List screenplay, Nasty follows a talented young gymnast fighting for a place on the Olympic team. However, her biggest challenge comes not from the competition but from her own coach, creating a high-stakes story about ambition, power and personal struggles within elite sports.
Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment and Jenna Ortega are producing the upcoming Warner Bros project, which marks Jarosz’s first screenplay sale.
Ortega returns to Warner Bros following the success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which earned more than $452 million worldwide at the box office. She is also known for her Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated performance as Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s hit series Wednesday.
Byrne recently earned critical recognition for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, where she portrayed a woman dealing with personal challenges, family struggles and emotional pressure. The performance earned her major award nominations, including an Academy Award nomination.
With a strong creative team, acclaimed cast and a story centred on competitive gymnastics, Nasty is expected to become one of Warner Bros’ notable upcoming drama projects. The film’s release date has not yet been announced.
