Ticket sales for Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey’s upcoming revival of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Sunday in the Park With George have been delayed until autumn, although the London production remains scheduled to open next summer.

According to reports, tickets were originally expected to go on sale in May, but producers have decided to postpone the launch until Grande completes her Eternal Sunshine Tour. The singer’s tour is set to conclude on September 1 with a 10-night residency at London’s O2 Arena, after which ticket sales for the highly anticipated musical are expected to begin.

Grande will take on the dual roles of Dot and Marie in the revival, following in the footsteps of Bernadette Peters, who originated the roles in the original 1983 production. Jonathan Bailey will star as French artist George Seurat, whose famous painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte inspired the musical.

The production will be directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Marianne Elliott, with designs by Tom Scutt. Auditions for additional cast members are reportedly underway, with the show expected to begin performances at London’s Barbican Centre in early June 2027.

Interest in the Sunday in the Park With George revival is expected to be high following Grande and Bailey’s collaboration in the blockbuster Wicked film adaptations alongside Cynthia Erivo. Producers are reportedly preparing for strong demand when tickets become available and are aiming to prevent technical issues during the sales process.

The revival is produced by Empire Street Productions in association with the Barbican and will bring Sondheim’s celebrated musical back to the London stage with two major Hollywood stars leading the cast.
