Dengue Vector: Expert advising on mosquito control

LAHORE: An ecology and vector control expert from the World Health Organisation is helping the government in its drive to check the growth of the mosquito that spreads the dengue virus, said Agriculture Secretary Arif Nadeem. In his daily briefing to reporters on the dengue epidemic on Tuesday, Nadeem said that 10,000 litres of Deltamethrin had been imported from India for insecticide spraying in Lahore. He said that 150 foggers had been imported from Germany and flown from Karachi to Lahore via a Pakistan Army C-130. There are now 350 foggers available for spraying campaigns in all union councils of Lahore. He said that in the last 24 hours, 471 confirmed dengue cases had been reported in Punjab including 297 in Lahore.
