Jude Law shifts into action with new getaway driver thriller

The new project comes from Oscar nominated writer Zach Baylin and marks a fresh action role for the acclaimed actor

Jude Law is set to headline a new action thriller centred on a getaway driver, expanding his already diverse film career with a role that promises a different kind of challenge. The project was unveiled during the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival by representatives from Riff Raff Entertainment, the production company founded by Law.

The screenplay is being written by Zach Baylin, whose recent work includes co creating Netflix's Black Rabbit. Baylin also co wrote The Order and received an Academy Award nomination for King Richard. His involvement adds considerable prestige to the untitled feature, which remains in the early stages of development.

Speaking during the announcement, Riff Raff Entertainment executive Ben Jackson offered a brief glimpse into the story. He described it as following a getaway driver attempting to get from one destination to another while facing numerous obstacles along the way. Although detailed plot information has not yet been released, the premise suggests a character driven thriller rather than a conventional high speed action spectacle.

Katie Sinclair, also representing Riff Raff Entertainment, explained why the project stood out for both the company and Law. She said the film presents an opportunity for the actor to explore a style of action he has not previously tackled during his career. According to Sinclair, the production aims to combine large scale action with a strong emotional core, ensuring the central character remains at the heart of the story.

She also noted that casting Law helps distinguish the film from similar entries in the genre. Rather than relying solely on action sequences, the filmmakers intend to create a story that balances excitement with compelling character development. Sinclair said the company continues to seek distinctive versions of familiar genres, believing this project fits that ambition.

Law has built a reputation through performances across a wide range of films, including dramas, historical epics, thrillers and fantasy adventures. His recent projects have demonstrated his willingness to take on varied roles, making this forthcoming action film another notable addition to his filmography. While he has appeared in action oriented productions before, the central role of a getaway driver represents a fresh direction.

The announcement also revealed that Baylin is collaborating with Riff Raff Entertainment on a separate television series, further strengthening the creative partnership between the writer and the production company.

At present, no director, supporting cast or production schedule has been announced. Filming dates and a release window also remain under wraps. Even so, the combination of Jude Law, Zach Baylin and Riff Raff Entertainment has already generated interest, particularly among audiences looking for original action stories led by established dramatic actors.
