FFC fixes disqualified PTI MNA's case
.

The Federal Constitutional Court (FFC) has fixed the disqualification case of PTI MNA Sohail Sultan for a hearing. A two-member bench headed by Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi will hear the case on July 8. The court has issued notices to the ECP, the attorney general and other respondents.
Sultan challenged the speaker's reference and the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) jurisdiction to proceed against him over allegations that he was a government employee before contesting the general elections.
The ECP had been conducting proceedings against the PTI lawmaker based on a reference alleging that he was serving as a government employee before contesting the general elections.
The FCC had earlier restrained the ECP from proceeding against Sultan pending adjudication of the matter. Before contesting the general elections, Sultan was serving as an assistant advocate general in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The petition questions the legality of the proceedings initiated against him on that basis.
The PHC had granted him interim relief on Oct 17, 2024, and had suspended proceedings initiated by the ECP on the impugned reference.
