'500 e-buses, double-deckers soon on roads'

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the government is taking historic steps to meet the city's transportation needs, and 500 modern electric buses, along with double-decker buses, will soon be seen operating on the roads of Karachi.

In a statement, the senior minister said the development and prosperity of Karachi along with the provision of basic amenities to its people remain the top priorities of the Sindh government.

Sharjeel said that more than Rs100 billion has been allocated for Karachi in the 2026-27 budget, adding the funds will be utilised for water supply, drainage, construction and rehabilitation of roads, and other public infrastructure and civic facilities.

He said one of the biggest needs of Karachi's residents is access to modern, safe, and dignified public transport, and that the government is fully aware of the requirement.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that creating new employment opportunities is a key pillar of the Sindh government's economic strategy.
