Princess Kate completed National Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours to raise funds and awareness for cancer care

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, Princess of Wales, has completed the UK's National Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours to raise money and awareness for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
According to a statement shared by Kensington Palace on Sunday, the challenge was undertaken not only as a physical achievement but also as "a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back."
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Mount Snowdon in Wales within 24 hours.
The route covers 23 miles of hiking, more than 10,000 feet of ascent and requires 462 miles of driving between the mountains.
The 44-year-old royal was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer in March 2024 and announced she was in remission in early 2025 following chemotherapy. The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is linked to the hospital where she received treatment.
In the statement, the Princess said, "Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare. The journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone."
She also said, "Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live, between effort and acceptance."
Reflecting on her own experience, the Princess wrote that hundreds of thousands of people each year hear words "that no one wants to hear."
She added, "What follows is a path that tests every part of who we are: physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually," noting that it also affects "the quiet moments we spend alone with our thoughts."
According to the palace, the Princess completed the challenge independently while receiving support from Britain's Mountain Rescue charity along the route.
She was welcomed at the finish by Prince William, their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as her parents and brother.
