Utah-based Lego reseller Bricks and Minifigs and YouTuber Ben Schneider, known online as Reckless Ben, have agreed to mediate their legal dispute in an effort to avoid a public trial.

The agreement, filed in Utah’s Fourth District Court, follows a lawsuit brought by Bricks and Minifigs over Schneider’s viral videos accusing the company of involvement in the alleged theft of a large Star Wars Lego collection left with an Oregon franchise under a consignment arrangement.

Bricks and Minifigs sued Schneider for defamation, disparagement, conspiracy, stalking, trespass and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Schneider disputes the claims and, according to a court filing, plans to bring his own claims against the company.

The new agreement includes mediation and a revised preliminary injunction. It lifts earlier restrictions that had prevented Schneider from posting further videos about the dispute.

Fourth District Judge Tony Graf Jr. had previously ordered Schneider to remove related videos and barred new posts while the case continued.

A hearing due later this month, which would have considered whether those restrictions should remain in place, has now been cancelled.

Under the proposed order, Schneider and anyone acting directly or indirectly with him would be barred from threatening Bricks and Minifigs, stalking, trespassing, damaging property, publishing personal contact information, impersonating others to obtain signatures or recordings, or coming within 100 yards of the company’s stores, offices and owners.

The agreement also states that Schneider may continue to publish lawful commentary, including "opinions, criticism, satire and/or commentary" and reporting on court findings and proceedings.
